I’m worried my new dentures will slip. What can you do to prevent this?

This is a very common concern, but we’re pleased to tell you that there are options that will provide you with a sense of security about the stability of your dentures. Today’s dentures not only look beautiful and natural, but now we can use dental implants to make sure that they stay securely in place. This is a vast improvement over messy adhesive gels that may not really be effective.

When people think of dental implants, they often think of a complete replacement tooth. But a dental implant is actually made up of three separate pieces. In dentistry when we talk about the implant, we are referring to the portion that is secured in your jaw. We place these implants strategically in the jaw and attach them to the denture. This eliminates the common problem of dentures that slip or shift. With implant-retained dentures placed at Gulf Shore Cosmetic and Family Dentistry, you will also be free to eat the foods that you enjoy.

Wearing dentures for many years can eventually result in bone loss in the jaw, so another important consideration is that dental implants prevent bone loss that can occur when several or all teeth are missing. Dental implants not only hold the denture securely in place, but also act as replacement roots to help conserve bone.
